Everything Bagel Mixed Nuts: The Star of the Show

The Everything Bagel nuts from UR Nuts bring the signature savory flavors of an everything bagel into this cheeseball. Their blend of seasoning and crunchy texture creates a delicious contrast to the creamy cheese mixture. We lightly process the nuts so they adhere easily to the cheeseball while still providing plenty of texture in every bite.

Cream Cheese: The Foundation of a Great Cheeseball

Cream cheese gives this appetizer its rich, smooth, and creamy texture. When combined with sharp cheddar and Parmesan, it creates a flavorful base that holds everything together. Allowing the cream cheese to soften before mixing makes the preparation easier and helps the ingredients blend evenly.

Great Friends, Great Nuts, and a Delicious Collaboration

We're excited to feature UR Nuts in this recipe! UR Nuts is a specialty nut shop in historic downtown Frederick, Maryland, built around a passion for freshly roasted nuts, quality ingredients, and community.

What makes UR Nuts especially interesting is its roasting process. The team starts with premium-quality raw nuts and roasts them onsite daily in small batches using dry heat, without adding oils. Their approach focuses on preserving the natural flavor and crunch of the nuts while creating distinctive, flavorful blends.

UR Nuts opened its downtown Frederick shop in August 2025 and launched its online store in June 2026. The business has continued to grow while maintaining its focus on craft, community, and a little bit of fun—something we can definitely appreciate!

We're fortunate to call the owner a great friend, and we're thrilled to be collaborating on a few recipes together. This Everything Bagel Mixed Nut Cheeseball is one of the first creations in that collaboration, and we couldn't be happier with how the Everything Bagel nuts complement the creamy, cheesy base.

Everything Bagel Mixed Nut Cheeseball Tips

Hand pouring mixed nuts from a paper bag into a black measuring cup on a wooden table, with a blurred cozy kitchen background.
  1. Soften the cream cheese: Let it sit at room temperature for about 30–45 minutes before mixing.

  2. Use freshly shredded cheddar: Freshly shredded cheese generally blends more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.

  3. Grate the Parmesan finely: Finely grated Parmesan distributes evenly throughout the cheeseball.

  4. Lightly process the nuts: Pulse them in a food processor until finely chopped but not reduced to a powder.

  5. Reserve the coating: Keep the majority of the chopped nuts separate until you're ready to coat the cheeseball.

  6. Mix thoroughly: Make sure the cream cheese, cheddar, Parmesan, Worcestershire sauce, chives, and nuts are evenly incorporated.

  7. Use plastic wrap to shape: Wrapping the mixture makes it easier to form a neat, round cheeseball without getting your hands too messy.

  8. Chill until firm: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours so the cheeseball holds its shape.

  9. Coat just before serving: Rolling the cheeseball in the nuts closer to serving time helps preserve their crunch.

  10. Press the coating gently: Lightly press the nuts into the surface so they adhere evenly.

  11. Taste before shaping: Depending on the seasoning in the Everything Bagel nuts and the saltiness of the cheeses, you may not need additional salt.

  12. Use a serving platter: Place the cheeseball in the center of a platter and surround it with crackers and fresh vegetables.

Hand pours shredded cheese from a metal cup into a mixing bowl in a kitchen, with green onions blurred nearby.

  13. Keep it chilled: Because the cheeseball contains dairy, refrigerate it until serving and avoid leaving it out for extended periods.

  14. Prepare ahead: You can make the cheese mixture and shape the ball a day in advance, then coat it with nuts before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nut-coated cheese ball under a glass cloche on a wooden stand in a warm kitchen buffet, with blurred pots behind.

Can I make this cheeseball ahead of time?

Absolutely! This is a great make-ahead appetizer. You can prepare and shape the cheeseball up to 24 hours in advance. Keep it wrapped in the refrigerator and add the Everything Bagel nut coating shortly before serving for the best crunch.

What are Everything Bagel mixed nuts?

Everything Bagel mixed nuts are nuts seasoned with the savory flavors inspired by an everything bagel. They bring a combination of seasoning and crunch that works beautifully with the creamy cheese mixture.

For this recipe, we're using the Everything Bagel nuts from our friends at UR Nuts.

Can I use a different type of nut?

You can certainly experiment with different nuts, although the Everything Bagel seasoning is what gives this recipe its signature flavor. If substituting, choose a seasoned nut blend that complements the cheddar and Parmesan.

Can I use a different cheese?

Yes! You can substitute the sharp cheddar with white cheddar, Monterey Jack, or another flavorful cheese. The Parmesan adds a salty, savory element, so we recommend keeping it in the recipe.

Why does the cheeseball need to chill?

Chilling allows the cream cheese mixture to firm up, making it easier to shape and coat. It also gives the flavors time to blend together.

How do I keep the nut coating crunchy?

For the best texture, coat the cheeseball shortly before serving. If you prepare it ahead of time, refrigerate the uncoated cheeseball and add the chopped nuts just before placing it on your appetizer platter.

What should I serve with this cheeseball?

Crackers, pretzels, sliced cucumbers, celery, bell peppers, and toasted baguette slices are all excellent choices. A variety of dippers gives guests plenty of options.

Can I freeze the cheeseball?

Yes. Freeze the uncoated cheeseball tightly wrapped for up to 1 month. Thaw it overnight in the refrigerator and coat it with the chopped Everything Bagel nuts before serving.

Is this recipe gluten-free?

The cheese mixture itself can be made with gluten-free ingredients, but you'll want to check the ingredient labels on the Everything Bagel nuts and Worcestershire sauce. Serve with certified gluten-free crackers or vegetables if needed.

Can I make smaller cheeseballs?

Definitely! You can divide the mixture into several smaller cheeseballs. They're perfect for individual appetizer servings, smaller gatherings, or a party platter with multiple flavors.
